Meet the Clayton Family
We are Bobby and Lindsey. Together with our four children, we serve as your AGWM Career Missionaries to western Mongolia.
The Lord called both of us to Mongolia before having met one another. For Lindsey, the call to overseas work came through a dream in March of 2010, where she saw a map with “Mongolia” written across it. The shape of the map was identical to a province in western Mongolia called Govi Altai. In October of the same year, Bobby had a vision during a worship service where God laid out the next four years of his life, and the vision ended in western Mongolia. Each part of the vision came to pass and now we are walking in the fulfillment of this long-awaited call. We met for the first time THREE years after God’s call, and now we serve confident that the Lord brought us together for a joint purpose— to reach the never before reached peoples of Mongolia for Christ!
After serving overseas individually (in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Mongolia) and getting married in 2015, the Lord led us to the mountains of Laos where we gained experience in the areas of ministry that we felt the Lord was calling us to establish in Mongolia. There, we learned how to live and work as a team in a remote context. The Lord was faithful during our time in Laos and after two years, we felt that it was finally time to step in to our longterm calling to western Mongolia.
We were appointed as Career Missionaries in 2019 and quickly raised our budget only to be “stuck” with no way in to Mongolia in 2020. In that season of waiting, the Lord opened the door for us to take a Mongolian intensive language course, followed by six months of serving at a Mongolian church in Chicago. The Lord used our waiting season to work in the hearts of other individuals who sensed God calling them to join us in the countryside. We are so thankful to have had a team of 9 adults and 6 kids, pioneering together to see the Good News of Jesus begin to spread in Govi Altai!
Over the course of our first term in Govi Altai, the Lord has done an incredible work among our local friends. We have seen miracles take place as a result of consecrated prayer. During our first winter in Mongolia, God used our son’s double pneumonia to draw the first believer to Himself, which in turn, led to six other young people hearing about and accepting Jesus for the very first time! This then led to planting our first church made up of youth and young adults. We now have the privilege of hosting groups of 20-30 people in our home twice a week for Bible study, game nights, and Sunday services, and we just baptized three new believers in our bathtub. We have had open doors to teach English and life skills, to engage in community outreach and development, and to travel to remote villages across our province. Most recently, the Lord has expanded the ministry of our community center, where we engage with local students on a regular basis.
